Text Term 4 - Week 4

 This week in textiles

We are making sure we know how to do darts, seams and buttonholes and what they are used for.

Darts - Here is a photo of my darts, it is used to shape fabric, therefore the fabric won’t be loose and it will be fitting, the fabric to mold the body. Buttonholes - Here is a photo of my buttonholes, they are used for, Buttonholes are reinforced holes in fabric that buttons pass through, allowing one piece of fabric to be secured to another. The raw edges of a buttonhole are usually finished with stitching.

Seams -
Here is a photo of my seam sample -
The seam is sewn at 1.5 centimeters. I have finished the edges using  (a Overloking

Seams are finished so that they don’t fray.
